Location
Just 75 miles from Panama City, Playa Damas is located directly across from the Bay of Nombre de Dios, and separated from the adjacent beachfront village by the Terrín river. Damas is only 40 miles northeast of the Panama Canal and the large port city of Colón.
Playa Damas is also 30 minutes by car from the historic town of Portobelo. Founded in 1597, this sleepy village was once the busiest port in the entire continent of the Americas, where Spanish bullion was gathered from all over the New World for shipment to Spain, and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's natural deep harbor attracts thousands of sailboats yearly, as well as scuba divers from around the world looking to experience the large coral reefs and diverse marine life in the area.
Just a 15 minute boat ride away is Isla Grande, a beautiful laid back Caribbean Island with several small hotels, restaurants and bars. It's also a popular surfing destination.
Then of course there's the San Blas Islands, a very popular world class yachting destination. They're a short boat or helicopter ride from the property. This magnificent archipelago of 378 islands (of which only 49 are inhabited) offers world class diving , snorkeling and boating, while giving you a once in a lifetime cultural experience in this amazing traditional indigenous setting. The indigenous Guna tribe are a wonderful example of how an indigenous people continue to flourish and practice their age old customs, isolated from the modern world. They're friendly and welcoming of tourists.
